About

In the vast tapestry of life, animals stand out with their endless grace. Their myriad qualities - strength, wisdom, tenderness, and unyielding love - often overshadow the harsh realities they face. A dog's relationship with humans can be bittersweet; swaying between undying affection and sheer neglect. These reflections stirred Jimena Hoyos's heart, making her realize that her passion for dogs was destined for a greater cause.

Gozques was born out of an unmistakable bond of mutual respect and empathy between Jimena and these lovable creatures. More than just a non-profit, it became a beacon of hope for homeless dogs in Colombia and the United States. Jimena envisioned a world where these innocent souls receive the love they rightfully deserve and live a life of dignity. And so, Gozques set out on its noble journey, advocating against animal cruelty, providing sustenance, medical care, and kindling the spirit of adoption.

Ever since its inception in 2011, Gozques has championed the cause of the voiceless. Through innovative "public food dispensers," thousands of dogs across Colombia have been fed. These dispensers, the brainchild of Jimena and her ally, veterinarian Juan Manuel Montoya, have now found homes in multiple Latin American countries. The alliance with PURINA amplified this initiative, enabling the organization to nurture over 5,000 hungry souls daily.

However, Jimena's quest transcends mere sustenance. Recognizing that ignorance often breeds cruelty, Gozques dove deep into the realm of education. Through a heartfelt collaboration with NORMA, a renowned school supply company, they have touched the lives of young minds, fostering love and reverence for animals.

Every click of Jimena's camera captures a soulful story. Her photographic journeys are filled with tender moments, where she immortalizes the essence of each dog she encounters. These portraits, framed using recycled materials, have traveled and been admired from Bogota and Medellin to Miami and New York.

Gozques's dream further expanded when COCA COLA stepped in, paving the way for the Gozques Sanctuary. Nestled in the sacred grounds of La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, this sanctuary is envisioned as a haven for animals rescued from cruelty and illegal trades. With ambitious plans, like constructing ecological cabins for sustainable revenue and a vast aviary, Gozques seeks to create a paradise where man and animal coexist in harmony.

As Jimena often quotes, "Gozques is a dream that transcends my lifetime. It's a promise of a safe haven for countless generations of animals." The journey is long, and the challenges are many. But with love, compassion, and collective effort, Gozques aspires to transform this dream into a living reality.
